The U.S. Division of Power is placing $3.46 billion towards 58 initiatives throughout 44 states to strengthen electrical grid resilience and reliability throughout the nation, serving to to deliver greater than 35 GW of recent renewable power on-line.
“At this time’s announcement represents the largest-ever direct funding in crucial grid infrastructure, supporting initiatives that can harden programs, enhance power reliability and affordability,” says U.S Secretary of Power Jennifer M. Granholm.
The Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) Program, managed by DOE’s Grid Deployment Workplace (GDO), will fund actions to modernize the electrical grid to cut back impacts of pure disasters and excessive climate; enhance the pliability, effectivity and reliability of the electrical energy system, with a specific deal with unlocking extra photo voltaic, wind and different clear power; and enhance reliability by deploying modern approaches to electrical energy transmission, storage and distribution.
The $3.46 billion represents a primary spherical of choices below the broader $10.5 billion GRIP Program.
